blog 11

Hey guys! Welcome to my last and final blog! Wooho!!!

I have a question for you… What do people normally look for in a great candidate? What do you look for? Well For me, I first relate to their image and profile, followed by their beliefs, stands on issues, and what they can do to make things effective. Anyone who is naturally a good person is always appealing. In this case, Joe Biden is that good people that can help this country stay on the right path. With your help to spread the word, that he is indeed is the ideal candidate many voters can stand with. With the help of good American citizens, we can put another fellow good American In office. Not only is Joe Biden an American. As I’ve mentioned before, he’s the father of an American hero, who just recently passed away this year from brain cancer and Biden survived TWO life-threatening braid aneurysms. This shows how strong he is as a character. He comes from humble beginnings.

My dad always said, ‘ Champ, the measure of a man is not how often he is known down but how quickly he gets up’ – Joe Biden.

Biden faced many struggles and overcame them. Most Americans can relate to him because of the different struggles he’s been through. Aside from that, He’s likeable from young generations to older ones.. Even if you don’t agree with his stances on certain issue, he’s a good man. Biden has the experience, the familiarity and his credibility is undeniable. Biden’s experience gives him the edge over a lot of the candidates. With 4 decades under his belt, he has more foreign policy experience than Hillary Clinton and John Kerry combined. He’s served as chair of the Middle Class Task Force. He also makes power moves by help passing acts like the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and Ready to work initiative, He’s been in politics since he was elected to Senate at age 29. Joe Biden is a impressive candidate that could really use your help in donations and funds to make his visions a reality.

Blog 10

As you know, the end of the semester is approaching, and the political blog posts are coming to an end. I’ve spent the last 9 blogs on focusing on Joe Biden but this last blog I have to turn my attention to another candidate that’s apart of the 2016 election. Hilary Clinton will be the topic of discussion for this post.
I’ve decided to check out Clinton’s webpage simply because I know she has strong credibility and experience in politics and she could be the United States first female president. I want to see if I can learn more about what she stands for and what she promotes.

Here’s the link: Hillary Clinton's Webpage

When you first enter her website, it prompts visitors to sign up a email address and zip code. From this action alone could be a strength because it can collect data of different supporters and viewers. This could also work against her as a weakness and drive away web surfers that just want to see information and may not want to put their information out. After the prompt for email information and zip codes, it automatically refreshes to a new page where it prompts website visitors to donate money. Being that I’m a viewer that strictly just wants to view her actual website, photos and information, the first two prompts make things more difficult than it needs to be. Yes, its a given that candidates urge people to join their movement and donate, but don't make it required to give this information just to continue to the page. I finally refreshed my browser a few times to get to where i needed to be.
Once I finally got to the actual page, I begin to look around and skim texts. Overall, I like the layout of her official campaign website. Her page provides different variety of videos of her self and her message, she has multiple links and ads that of T-shirts and other merchadise she promotes. Tuning into Hilary’s “Issues” tab was next for me. I’ll share with you all what her issues includes.
Issues Page provides three types of Growths;
STRONG GROWTH, FAIR GROWTH AND LONG TERM GROWTH.

Strong Growth; expanding emoploment oppurtunties
Make America the world’s clean energy superpower
Increase private and public investment
Provide tax relief for families
Create a New college compact
                   Just to name a few….
I believe that Clinton’s agenda and plans are appealing to Americans, and also ethical. She gives solutions to many problems people face day to day.

In comparison, I wanted to choose Bernie Sanders as her strongest opponent. Being that Sander’s is in the same political party as Clinton, I personally feel that their names and reputations are the most familiar based on the media and coverage I’ve been exposed to since I started keeping up with the candidates. Bernie's webpage is pretty similar to Clinton's..
Off the bat, I notice in many of Sander's photos on his website shows a wide variety of different people that support him. On his issue page, his biggest statement was

Getting Big Money Out of Politics and Restoring Democracy.

with other issues listed:
Income and wealth inequality
A living page
Racial justice
creating decent paying jobs.

I believe both candidates have great agendas that are effective and plans and really are similar overall. Both of their issues are similar, the layout and prompts were similar.

Blog #9

Joe Biden has news on him everywhere- outlets that are on the internet, blogs, social media and TV. I would think it would be normal for the Vice President of the United States to have that much consistent coverage on him. Media outlets cover stories of Biden on his travels, speeches and activism around the country. However, the outlets aren’t touching up on is his plan for 2016 election.
Since Biden announced that he wouldn’t be apart of the 2016 Presidential election, not much news has been covered on Biden’s status as a candidate.

Instead, when I googled searched “News on Joe Biden” a very popular story that appeared on several different links on the page. The recent story on Biden covers Joe Biden getting passionate while discussing sexual assault prevention at Syracuse University this passed Thursday. There’s no surprise that sexual violence has been a issues for college campuses every where. Binge drinking, parties and friends separation can make certain situations for young adults. Biden Obtained his law degree in 1969 from Syracuse so its good to hear about his homecoming from time to time.  Biden delivers by stating "No consent means no, whether you're conscious or unconscious," Biden said as part of the "It's on Us" campaign he has taken to colleges across the country. Biden goes on by commending the victims and really illustrates courage to the audience when speaking on the victims of these crimes. “It takes an enormous, enormous amount of courage to speak up," he said, acknowledging that victims know they will be judged. "Every time you repeat it, you relive it." More than 200,000 students pledge to join It's On Us" campaign. I really think biden is an expectional speaker and would have been a real contender to the 2016 election. By viewing this outlet, if I wasn’t a follower of Biden’s activism around the country I would really be impressed by the way he comes off in the media. I think that because the fact that he’s on a tour traveling to different universities to speak on his “It’s on Us” campaign on sexual violence really shows his passion to help change an issue that has been going on for a while.

 JOKES ON JOE..OR IS IT??

Over the course of writing multiple blogs about Joe Biden, I’ve notice that Biden has a reputation of being sort of a goofball at times. For this week’s blog, I looked up some skits of Joe Biden online and sure enough, Saturday Night Live never seems to fail on delivering material. The video selected is titled “Joe Biden’s Vice Presidential Address” where Jason Sudeikis plays Joe Biden’s character comparing him to Sarah Palin repeatedly, and makes multiple promises to the American people.
Personally, I have never really been the one to tune in on Saturday Night Live and just laugh because I don’t find most of the skits they perform funny, but let me know if you think this video is! The link is located below:

Joe Biden's face when he heard about SNL making a skit about him...
His face after he watched the skit..

Throughout the video, Biden (Sudeikis) overly expresses several obvious characteristics that pop culture and the media have probably emphasized about Joe Biden since he’s been around. From his loud, agressive tone to his “old man” gestures, the sketch describes and portrays Joe Biden as some sort of a humorous vice president who has a laze-faire attitude about certain situations. I think the most exaggerated actions in the chosen artifact is the fact he makes so many “promises” to American’s.
In the video, Biden’s character says that people tell him “ Joe, Joe! You have to think before you say things like that!” and he responds by saying “ Message received, I hear you loud and clear, but the good news is, the message is not really received”.  The sketch continues by repeatedly comparing his character to Sarah Palin, as if that’s the only argument he delivered through out the entire 2008 campaign; is to prove himself that he is on Sarah Palin’s level.
I think this artifact is harmless because it is Saturday night live is known for poking fun but I do feel think it can make the image of Joe Biden come across as dumb founded, unconcerned, unaware, and just taking a fun problem-free rollercoaster ride of Vice Presidency. Overall, I don’t believe all of these exaggerated actions are completely accurate or even effects Joe Biden’s role. Biden’s appeal is one of the factors that assisted with the success of two-term President Obama. While he’s quite gaffe prone and known for his, often times, off-color humor, Biden is in fact a smart guy. While most characteristics about Biden are negatively emphasized in the media, Biden has clearly been doing something right to counter the negatively simply because there were so many supporters who were excited about the unclear rumors of Biden running for 2016 presidency.
He was a senator for nearly 40 years before becoming the 47th Vice President of the U.S. and it’s because of his likeability and he has a lot of strengths that are appealing to offer! His familiarity, the encouragement to push the President of the United States to recognize same sex marriage, has a deeper background in foreign policies, and I can’t forget to add that he is one of the most experienced lawmakers (foreign affairs to the federal budget). Joe Biden knows what’s up.
